The University of Colorado's Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory (ITLL) was specifically designed to help students of all ages learn about engineering systems found in almost every modern building by studying the building itself - a concept we term Building-as-a-Learning-Tool , or BLT. The building has very few secrets because everything that makes it "tick" is visible to the public as well as being instrumented with many sensors for data collection.
Engineers are driven by data. They quantify the world around them to make informed decisions. In the ITLL, data are collected continuously from more than 300 built-in sensors allowing real-time monitoring of the building's "pulse." While we continue to develop an improved BLT data website interface, please visit our existing Building-as-a-Learning-Tool website to access the data from these sensors and learn more about the BLT.
