Manufacturing Center » Safety Rules
All students must abide by the Manufacturing Center rules when utilizing its resources. Students may be asked to leave the Manufacturing Center for non-compliance with any of the rules.
Safety rules are strictly enforced!
-
Wear safety glasses*
OSHA-approved safety glasses must be worn at all times. Regular prescription glasses do not offer impact and side protection; therefore, safety goggles must be worn over your regular glasses. -
No rings, necklaces, bracelets or dangling earrings
Please remove all jewelry, such as rings, necklaces and dangling earrings, before operating any machinery or tools. -
No loose hair or clothing
Loose hair and clothing are extremely dangerous in the shop environment. Please tuck in your shirt, roll up long sleeves and tie back loose hair. If in doubt, ask the shop manager for his opinion. -
No open-toe shoes
Open-toe shoes, such as sandals, and shoes not entirely covering both feet, are not allowed in the Manufacturing Center. While steel-toe shoes are the most protective, closed-toe leather shoes and tennis shoes are acceptable. -
Please clean up your mess
To keep the shop hazard-free, please clean up the machine and any mess (sawdust, metal chips, spills, etc.) before leaving the Manufacturing Center. Clean means: the next machine user is unable to determine the material(s) you were using. -
Return tools and parts
Please return any tools, parts, bits, etc., to their proper “home” in the Manufacturing Center.
Please cooperate — for your own protection…
You will not be allowed in the Manufacturing Center unless you comply with ALL of these safety rules.
* Safety glasses and goggles are available for purchase at the CU Bookstore.
