The ITL Design Expo is held twice a year, at the end of the fall and spring semesters. The event takes place at the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory on the CU-Boulder campus. Student groups from all engineering majors are invited to display their projects for judges, fellow students and the public.

Participation in the ITL Design Expo is mandatory for students taking GEEN 1400: First-Year Engineering Projects and GEEN 3400: Invention & Innovation .

All groups presenting at the ITL Design Expo are required to display a poster about their project. Student teams are organized by course or section, and projects are judged on factors such as design robustness, creativity and innovation. Volunteer judges --- industry professionals or UCB faculty and instructors --- determine the Best of Section Awards.  The public may voice their opinions by voting for the People's Choice Award.

Many from the community generously volunteer their Saturday to serve as judges.
