--> Want to help youngsters relate science and math to the engineering world?

--> Want to earn engineering credit while you give back to the community?

In this service-learning technical elective, students use engineering as a vehicle for the advancement of K-12 math and science. Students teach hands-on engineering in elementary or middle school classrooms, develop a lesson for the TeachEngineering digital library and explore relevant literature.

In this course, upperclass engineering students:
  • Teach engineering in Boulder Valley elementary school classrooms during the semester.
  • Learn and teach hands-on engineering lessons and activities --- topics such as the laws of motion; energy; rockets; environmental and earth sciences; simple machines; and electricity and magnetism.
  • Create a new engineering lesson with fun, hands-on activities.
  • Serve as engineer role models for youngsters and teachers.
  • See the syllabus for more information.
